I am not really sure what had been going on lately re: immigration...
Since last June, there has been all this talk about immigration getting done but it just seems like officials are taking their sweet time (running from one committee to the next, discussing it, debating it, etcetc). I just hope it's not losing momentum..
Anyway, from the most recent articles, it seems like there will be a 10 year wait until PR? Is this true? What about DREAMERS? 3, 4, or 5 years?
I know that getting PR isn't going to be easy but I feel uneasy about waiting years putting off one of my dreams on hold (getting an MD) since the journey to becoming a physician is already 10 years.
Any insight regarding this? Thanks everyone

Well, so far, the Senate's bill offers the DREAMers a 5-year path to green card and instant USC. Regularly, it's 10 years after they secure the borders... They confirmed that they'll pass CIR before the Summer ends

So does that mean that 5 years after we apply, we get the greencard or we wait 5 years, then apply and wait some more?
:'(

Pass CIR before summer? You mean vote on it?

Newyorker, it's best to wait and actually see the bill they vote on. The senate bill has a 5 year wait. So you apply after your 5 years are up and you probably get the GC in 4-6 months after that.

Yeah, they technically said that the Senate will vote on May or June, then the House within a month after the Senate. And you know, those who were approved to DACA are grandfathered

Well, I hope it passes and yes it's basically 5 years for USC so it's like instant green card then USC.. I'm pretty sure im'm going to join the navy if CIR passes, so hopefully it does.

I think it depends where in the process we're talking, but the full Senate won't have an immigration bill from the Judiciary until June.

The House is an unknown at this point until Boehner commits to a process.
