Until we see the full CIR language I can't be certain, but from the looks of it the 'touchback' option might apply to those in the Guest-worker legalization provision mainly.Dream will certainly be incorporated into both CIR bills yet to be introduced in both the House & Senate. The new Dream act specifically states that we have to apply within the United States so I don't think we have to worry about any 'touchback' option for the time being.

Call it special treatment but I dont want DREAM nor this new EARN Act to be incorporated into CIR. Because we would have to go on the line with rest of the people, which I think would be a disaster. Furthermore, there is always a chance that something might happend to CIR along the way. I think it is best for DREAM or EARN to pass on its own. I honestly dont care about anything else!

Well Bruinman the same thing is done in my country but you either go to jail or pay a fine it's like 500 dollars. I think alot of countries do that in South America. Maybe you should call your consul and ask.

this article states that CIR will start being dealt with on March 19th and be scheduled for a floor vote on 2 week of April.

Quote:
We have also now heard that the Senate will begin marking up the CIR bill on March 19th and will schedule floor debates to begin in the second week of April.
On another note, I think hell has frozen over, Jeff Sessions told illegal Irish people that he would support legalization. Also, he hints that might support Dream Act.

Quote:
Sessions says immigration policy must favor the young

The way to make sure immigration policy benefits national interests, said U.S. Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-Mobile, is to admit immigrants based on a point system.

Give points for educational advancement, accumulated assets, fluency in English, and young age, said Sessions, and immigrants will benefit U.S. interests.

Charge admission

Charging admission for immigrants might also work, he said.

“At some point we need to decide what’s in the national interest,” Sessions said in an editorial board meeting at The Daily last week. “If you’ve got money to invest, you might get more points.”

Sessions said he has a soft spot for immigrants already in the United States with their families.

“What are you going to do about the 11 million here? I think we’ve got to be compassionate about the people that have been here a long period of time and have children,” Sessions said.

Quote:
And then Sessions asked him how to fix the Irish problem. Sessions has in the past been credited with such statements as, “I do not believe we should award people who have entered our country illegally, submitted a false Social Security number, worked illegally.” But Sessions was thrilled to shake the hands of the ILIR volunteers and offered to help them in their fight for legalization.

www.shusterman.com is reporting that CIR is being delayed another week because of last minute behind-the-scene negotiations, so it should still be introduced in both chambers next week

03/07/2007: "DREAM" Act Bill Reintroduced by Sen. Richard Durbin of Illinois with Bi-Partisan Co-Sponsors

* This is a counter-part bill to "American Dream Act" which was recentrly introduced in the House with slightly different name. This is also the bill which the Senator introduced and was successful in the last Congress as part of the ill-fated and Senate passed CIR. The co-sponsors of this bill in the Senate are: Sen Craig, Larry E. [ID]; Sen Crapo, Mike [ID]; Sen Feingold, Russell D. [WI]; Sen Hagel, Chuck [NE]; Sen Kennedy, Edward M. [MA]; Sen Leahy, Patrick J. [VT];
Sen Lieberman, Joseph I. [CT]; Sen Lugar, Richard G. [IN] ; Sen McCain, John [AZ]; and Sen Obama, Barack [IL]. For the full text of the bill, please stay tuned.
* It is expected that this bill will again be incorporated as part of the upcoming CIR.

Nice find Swim. So DREAM has been introduced. Not surprisingly though, LOC isn't updated yet with the text of the bill. Once it's posted let's all take a close look at the bill so we won't be left in the dark and asking questions that could be easily answered by just reading the text.
