Indeed, they get upset because someone decided to go another way. The guy said he is doing great where he is at right now and somehow that hurts their feelings.

No one is getting agressive or upset, there is no reason to. The author of the thread used the words "giving up" on his thread title, so I doubt he would get his feelings hurt by people reenforcing it.

OP, you might wanna read my post here, just another take on things...

It's ironic how much hate and anger there is in this forum (full of negative comments that don't add to anything), considering how we should be here to support and help each other...Anyways, my brother took the same decision that you made about two or three years ago...and guess what? He has a job (part-time), is going full-time to school and will be done soon (one or two semesters I think). In a way, he is doing better than I am, and you have no idea how happy I am for him, and that he didn't have to go through all the stuff I had to endure here (work, school, money as an illegal).

The decision of going back is a difficult one, I had contemplated it for a couple of months before the whole DACA thing. It is NOT giving up, because things will NOT be easier than here, after all, the adaptation to a developing country (which Mexico is, unfortunately) is difficult.

For all it's worth, I'm happy you're doing good (or great) in Mexico (just as my brother is). I hope that you are traveling, traveling, and traveling and enjoying the culture .

I guess it’s every person's personal opinion about staying or leaving. Not everyone has the same endurance level and some people just want to live a hassle-free simple life.

I personally love this country, even with all its flaws. I choose to look at the bigger picture, the remarkable education I got here, the amazing friends I made and the countless memories I created. I don’t think that the people who chose to leave made a wrong decision. They have the entire world open for them now, except for the US. I hate when people think that there is a jungle outside the US. And besides, there might be a million different reasons why people choose to leave, I have one myself. I guess one just has to prioritize their life.

On another note, OP is just asking for everyone to share their stories, so please stop judging people based on the decisions they made.

I would only object to the 'hassle-free simple life' statement. Life isn't easier just because you stopped being an illegal; to the contrary, I would say it's a bit more difficult (as I've stated above). Just saying.

I'm bailing as soon as I graduate. If CIR passes with the current DA provision then I'll probably stay until citizenship, but once that is done I don't want anything else from this country.

I've been through too much, and right now it feels like its too little too late. With my degree I will be able to have a great life in my country, and to be honest I hope that every young student does the same. I'm ready to make my country a better place.

I didn't say it was easy...its just one less thing to worry about At least that's my opinion...

if you're not happy being here, then move along. There's plenty of people willing to take your place.

all you need is your degree and that's it.. wut. How do you expect people to not come back with strong comments after something like that ?

ANYWAY, this is an online forum, and people can do whatever they like (as long as they're within the guidelines)

In other words, you don't have to like what i write, all of what i say comes from personal experience, and no.. i wasn't licensed while being in the US illegally, and no i didn't have a social. I made ends meet by working and not GIVING up. You don't like that statement? deal with it.

So to summarize: you come here illegally, use the school system, and feel that the country "owes" you (judging by the "too little too late" comment), and even if you are legal, you will still go back to your country so they get the benefits? It's going to suck for you to live in a country you hate so much for 3 extra years til you're a citizen.
