I attend UT as well and receive around $9300 in grants for Fall/Spring and $1300 for Summer. You should definitely call and ask if you qualify for more aid. I've come to realize that if you ask nicely they'll bump up your aid to the maximum you are allowed to receive. My grades aren't stellar and I only have to pay for the insurance because tuition is practically covered in full.
