Senate floor deliberations for immigration will likely not go into July I think due to court appointments.

It also seems the President has a statement out already concerning the bill.
Quote:
I congratulate the Senate Judiciary Committee on completing its work on S. 744, the Border Security, Economic Opportunity, and Immigration Modernization Act. Thanks to the leadership of Chairman Leahy and a bipartisan group of eight Senators, the legislation that passed the Judiciary Committee with a strong bipartisan vote is largely consistent with the principles of commonsense reform I have proposed and meets the challenge of fixing our broken immigration system. The process for considering this legislation has been open and inclusive with multiple hearings, and more than a hundred amendments were considered and adopted, in many cases with bipartisan support. I applaud the Committee members for their hard work, especially “Gang of Eight” members Senators Schumer, Durbin, Graham and Flake. None of the Committee members got everything they wanted, and neither did I , but in the end, we all owe it to the American people to get the best possible result over the finish line. I encourage the full Senate to bring this bipartisan bill to the floor at the at the earliest possible opportunity and remain hopeful that the amendment process will lead to further improvements.

In President Obama We Trust. To the BIPARTISAN Gang of Eight, We Salute Your Honest Efforts. To Speaker Boehner, We Look Forward for a Common Sense Solution to OUR Nations Dysfunctional Immigration System.

There is definitely over 80% likelihood that the House will take up the Senate bill when it passes. This would be great for us IMO. All eyes would be on the House and knowing Boehner, he will surely be under pressure to rally for the bill. I suspect Harry Reid will go very fast with this. There was an article few days ago that said he will aim for a June vote in the Senate. Looks like they want to go fast with this.
Your assessment seems really optimistic but at the same time it seems like the most realistic outcome. I guess the only concern left is how bad the Senate will allow its version of the bill to get mauled to get something to pass the Conference Committee.

Was that a No at 10:37:21? Then someone said Yes.

If not Hatch then who else voted against it? Which name is missing?

So what's the possibility of anyone opposed to the CIR bill introduce UAFA amendment in the senate floor in an attempt to kill the bill?

Can anyone see this happening ? What if it does?

Senator Cruz of Texas voted no! Hatch voted for the bill due to his high-tech amendment being adopted.

That could still be likely actually considering the rather large Senate Democrat caucus. However,it is issues that pertaining to a guest worker program that has always stopped the advancement of a bill as of late.

Poisons pill amendments don't end with the Judiciary, but any Senator has special legislative moves they can use to defeat amendments on the Senate floor.I remember vividly former Senator Kyl doing just that by calling for a 'point of order' concerning how an amendment would be payed for within a comprehensive bill.

I have no clue, reading a few of them but the one that stands out the most to me is the ability for us to apply for naturalization after a year of military service.

Is that noted on the bill?
