It's not wey. I needed that deep cleaning. My teeth were messed up. My dentist did wonders. The scaling is not an advertising move either. Have you ever had tartar on your teeth and then had it removed?? I had a lot of it. I even thought it was part of my teeth. Shit is nasty.

Wey, go for a REGULAR cleaning if you can. You have spent your money on other more expensive things. Having a clean, tartar-free mouth is awesome.

Unless you have an actual medical coverage at work that offers dental, the best you can hope for are those scammy type brochures some dentists have.

Other things to try: If there is a university in your city that has a dental school, many of them offer very cheap (or even free) checkups. Some only accept you if you have a dental condition that a student needs to be working on which is somewhat random, but others offer everything at a very discounted rate if you can show up there every day at a certain time. For Crowns and Bridges that cost thousands of dollars, that's the best way to go.

If you only have a few teeth that needs work, find a good dentist and just pay cash. Often they work with you if you don't have insurance. A filling is about $200-$300.

The BEST way to avoid costs is to brush your teeth, floss, and see the dentist every 6 months. Sure it's $100 every 6 months, but if he catches a cavity before it's infected, it's the difference of $200 vs. $1200 if you need a root canal.

Can we go to the health department to have an extraction? Has anybody gotten dental work at their local health department?
