What's going on?please update me.

I feel really dumb right now, because I have no idea what's going on right now with the dream act or DAP.I've been so busy with school and work.Oh in case I forgot to tell you guys I finally got a JOB!Im a secretary at a homeless shelter.I get $10 an hour of the books.The only down side is that I could only work about 14 hours a week because of school.Anyways midterms are killing me so I dont have time to read the other posts.Can someone update me on the latest news on dream act.Did it pass yet?lol Jk.I'll appreciate it.

Me too please! I'm desperate...I need some good news. I'm on the same page as her. Piles of homework and a job to help my family out. All I know is that it was reintroduced, but where is it now?

STRIVE Act [a CIR legislation that includes DREAM, AgJobs, a guest-worker program, and a looooonnnngggg legalization plan for everyone else] was introduced in the House of Representatives last week by Rep. Gutierrez [a Democrat] and Flake [a Republican]. Big step since it is the first major piece of immigration legislation in the House this Congress. Supposedly has [or will have] enough votes to pass in the House.


Senate talks, however, have stalled [reportedly due to McCain getting chewed out in Iowa for his immigration beliefs]. The Senate is expected to have some action on the bill by late May [last two weeks].


Both the House and Senate versions of DREAM have been introduced in each respecting chamber. [this happened in early March/late February]


Some reports say that if the STRIVE Act will not come through, the SKIL bill and DREAM Act with some enforcement are likely to be the fall back.


According to Hayire, the bill that is likely to come out the House Judiciary Committee will not be STRIVE but a bill Rep. Lofgren [chairwoman of the Sub-Committee on Immigration] will make from components of STRIVE.
