hello, ive been lurking on this site for a few Weeks and was recently approved for deferred action. I have a question. What documents did you use in order to get a state id??

I had to bring everything from the biometrics appointment letter to the approvals. Simply bringing in the two papers that granted you deferred action and work permit will not be enough! Beware. Maybe it was just the workers at the DL office....they seemed a bit anti-immigrant unless you were a citizen or green card holder. Anyways, bring all your application materials and papers that granted your the status. I have a state id now It's pretty handy if you don't want to carry around your DL.

I used my work permit, passport, and SSN print out, plus the approval letters for proof of address. It was quite simple too!

Thanks guys!!! you helped a lot. I just got my ead on Friday and I'm going to apply for ss# on tue (im assuming they will be closed on mon). But for some reason I just feel like they are going to give me a hard time with getting a state id. I'll update you guys. Oh and I plan on bringing everything lol

Oh I have another question......should I ask for a print out from the ss office so that I can take it with me to get the id?

You're going to have to wait at least a day for your number to appear in the system. So you'll probably have to go back Wednesday to get your print out. Also at the DMV, let them know that you qualify for deferred action under code C33.
