Hello everyone, I've been applying to multiple banks and I just had an interview and I think it went pretty well. But I'm a little concern about employment history verifications. I just got my SS# in November 2012. so does anyone know how they can do employment history verification works? I have over 10 years of work history. I hope some of you are in the same situation please let me know, I'd like to hear about your experiences.

They could simply call your previous supervisors to check the employment history. If your previous employer is out of business, you'll need to submit copies of past W2 to verify employment history.

That's the policy at my company, and I had 4 years of work experience. I think you'll be fine, don't worry much. If you're recently approved for DACA, the background check and SSN verification might be a hassle. But in the end, you'll be fine.

I was nervous when I applied for a new job after receiving DACA work permit, but everything went smooth. However, the background check delays the process for 1 week; the background company cannot verify my SSN. I had to fax in a copy of my SSN card to speed up the process.

What position at the bank are you applying to ? Depending on the level of your position, the background check could get very meticulous.

Thanks for the quick reply. I had the interview at Chase bank, but I'm still not sure if I want to take the job if they offer it. It's only part time teller position. 20hours. I already have a full time job at a hotel but I'm looking for a better job with more opportunities and benefits. Where do you work?

I had an employment verification also and when they did my background check they told me my social security came out as invalid, idk but its a pain in the ass with the background checks, so they told me to bring in a copy of my w-2 or a letter of recommendation and well i brought in my w-2 but it had my invalid social, so HR told me she had to get it approved with the legal department.

Dang, this is definitely a hassle. They offered me the job but is only 20hours so I will have to pass. I cant live with 20 hours a week. I will just have to wait until full time comes available.

THIS is what I've been having problems with. I was approved late march and I still can't find a job. Granted I found a job rather quickly after March and accepted the position which made me stop my job search for a few weeks while they did the background check. It was with a big national health insurance that paid me over 17/hour and with benefits (although ironically their health coverage wasn't that great). I was so excited to be earning so much money but unluckily things went south. They told me they couldn't verify my employment history, they asked for my references so they could call and I gave it to them. But then they said they needed W-2's which didn't match my social (I blacked them out but they still inquired). After going back and forth with the background check company I finally explained to the lady my change in immigration status which she notated and when everything went back to the insurance company they had their legal department review it and they took back their offer. I was so freaking bummed. So I've been going strong in my search still but it really sucks man. I hope you have better luck than me.

I'm sorry to hijack your thread OP, but I hope you can help.

I have seen a few bank jobs openings and they mostly ask for a 6 month experience. Did you have any experience working in a bank? I would like to apply for a bank job as most of them have flexible hours and offer part time which I mainly need at the moment.

It's good to hear that you have confidently passed the interview. So why you are worried about the verification process. Don't be so dull, you are having 10 years of working history, then everything is in favor of you.
