So I went to the DMV office today (2 days after receiving my SS) and I gotta say that it felt really good to be there to process something for me. Living in CA since the age of 2 I've been to the DMV countless times but it was always for someone else. Most recently with my little sis (who is a USC) to get her ID/DL and I remember thinking one day I'll be able to do that. And today was MY DAY, I got up early cause I had no appointment and got to the office by 8:30am. The entire process (application for ID and written driver's test) took less than 2 hours. The rep helping me was very nice and wished me good luck on my test. I was a bit nervous cause I knew that I could have studied more but I managed to pass with only 5 wrong answers! I have my behind the wheel test in 4 weeks.

In conclusion, today finally after years (I'm 25) of feeling like an outsider, I'm beginning to feel a sense of normalcy. I know we still have a long process ahead but I can't help but feel optimistic about it.

To those of you who are still waiting, I feel your pain but hang in there!
