Yes I think we all should, there's no telling when we will have another shot at CIR.

I don't see a need to celebrate,u think this border security measure is a good thing? What's going to happen is all the non dreamers will be in permanent limbo, do u really think the US will come up with an entry exit system to satisfy these requirements in 10 yrs....and who will be responsible to show the boarder is secure....when and if this passing the language will be so strict that less than half of the est.11 million will come forward..heck it's taking some of us 9months or more to get approved, can u imagine how long for everyone else..u will probably be on a 2-4 yr waiting list..IJS

This is the Dream Act forum. Let the Non-Dreamers have their own sites to complain about.

So I'm curious, what bill would you propose keeping in mind that this isn't one of those "wishing for unlimited wishes" kinds of questions and the bill has to be passable?

@chocolatedrop's post requires those who read it to see it from the non-Dreamer perspective, also known as empathy or compassion, which I see plenty of people here lack.

By the way, should the legalization portion of the bill not pass, the Dems just created a plan for the Repubs to move forward on militarization of the border. They just showed how to do it, how much it will cost, the manpower needed, etc.

God forbid a new Repub Congress or presidency goes forward with it - now that they know exactly how to do it. Brilliant.

Non-Dreamer's perspective:
After willingly coming here and breaking the rules, and after waiting for 27 years since the last amnesty to get legal status, our undeserving butts would instantly become legalized if this bill were to pass. Sure it would take a few months or even a year for the application process to work, and yes, because we came here willingly and really shouldn't expect any relief, it would only be fair if we paid a fine and proved that from here on end, we'll play by the rules and wait 11 years to get our permanent documents. The good news is that we're already hard workers and now we're finally out of the shadows. Thank you for passing this bill and not deporting our asses like any other country would have done.

Is that fair?

American perspective:
We have empathy for the Dreamers. They grew up here, and this is their country. Still, we want to be fair and humane and not deport the 11 million others who have been here. There are however many others who have waited to come here legally and we ARE a nation of laws. The last amnesty also caused more problems so this time around, we want to make sure that doesn't happen again and to be fair to both the people who have done things the right way, our own interests, and not destroy families by deporting them, we'll offer a pathway to citizenship but it will be a long path. In the meantime, you get most of the same rights. If you don't like it, you can just go back to where you came from.

Uninformed non-dreamer:
Gimmie gimmie gimmie! I want a green card today! Don't be a racist yo. I want a free education and want to have lots of lots of babies because Tejas used to be Mexico! This bill is bad! Gimmie! Gimmie! Gimmie!

What do you care about the border? You don't plan on crossing it back and fourth do you?

So you don't care about your parents having to wait until the border is secure before they can apply?..the new language is creating a second class of citizens..which is what the democrats didn't want but know to pass the bill anything goes..
