Has anybody here had lasik done? I've been wearing glasses/contacts for over 10 years now and it keeps getting more and more annoying every year. I am considering getting Lasik done. If so how was your experience and around how much did you pay?
I asked my eye doctor about it and he suggested a few good places near me but I think I might wait for some type of groupon since I've seen it on there every now and then. Then again I don't know about all those hidden fees and what not.

First of all I'm not sure waiting on groupon is the best idea.

When it comes to eyes surgery you should check carefully about what type of process they use and if they use the latest machines. Some places might be cheaper but they might be using technology that is not as good as the current one.

Bottom line is you need someone experienced with current technology that knows what is going on. This is one of the few times I would not suggest being frugal.

So many things can go wrong and it's a very delicate procedure. I've looked into this but they recommended I wait a few more years since my vision improved suddenly from getting worse until it stops changing.

Also, please be aware of what the LASIK might do to your eyes; my teacher had problems with seeing long distance (farsightedness) and when she got the procedure she became nearsighted. She also complained that when she had to remove the eyepatches that everything was upside down (of course, the doctors mentioned that was temporary)

I was planning on getting Lasik too until I heard all the stories about how the process is done. If you're easily grossed out then make sure you tune people out when they want to share their story. Also, I have a friend who said it was the best thing he's ever done. He had to carry eye droppers for the first couple months but he's fine now.

Thanks for the input. Yes I will definitely do my research before picking a place. The thing that freaks me out most is being awake and seeing a blade like laser coming at me haha. I'm not ready to go through with it just yet anyway, I need to get approved so I can start making the big bucks to pay for it! lol. 8 Months today. :/

yeah my friends story kind of freaked me out too but overall she had a good experience. She said she instantly saw better then she did and within a few hours saw better then she ever did with glasses/contacts.

LASIK was the best thing I've ever done! I did mine in 2007 and haven't had any problems since. The place I did mine offered different warranties in case your eyes deteriorate, they will do it again for you. Since I was 22 and figured my eyes definitely will decline throughout the years I did the lifetime warranty. Most places offer payment plans without interest for a certain amount of time so I'd say just talk to a few different places and see what they offer. The price was depending on how bad your eyes are and the warranty. Mine ended up being 3300. I paid it in 1 year interest free. Also, don't worry about the laser. You don't feel anything. They ask you to focus on the laser but if you eye moves the laser will move with it. Plus they gave me a Valium to help relax. The only discomfort you have is post surgery. You have some burning for a few hours but the Valium made me sleep the whole time so I didn't feel it except when I'd wake up for a second and go back to sleep

Good to hear good stories! lol. Yeah I think I would definitely get the warranty as well. $3330 is not bad, I wouldn't mind paying that with a warranty included. I just don't want to end up paying $5000 or more. Did you get to watch a video of your procedure afterwards?
I think it's something I will be doing soon just got to build the courage and also give up a few thousand. Plus adding up contacts and glasses and solution adds up so in the long run I think it's worth the money.

I think you are joking!? haha. Either ways I would never get anything done in Mexico! Too many bad stories there.
