Got my DACA and everything done months ago but I completely forgot about getting my permit/DL! I've been browsing different threads but I was a bit confused so any answers would be greatly appreciated!

* If I get a 2yr ID/DL that expires at the same time as my DACA is there any negative consequences other than having to renew it a bit earlier compared to ppl who got a 5yr one?

* For the Los Angeles area, which DMVs should I actively avoid b/c they are know to give out 2yr ID/DL rather than 5yr ones? I'm fine with driving farther down to Pomona or somewhere else if they are more prone to giving 5yr ones...

Thank you! And happy 4th of July

there are no downsides of having a DL that is good for the same time of length of your EAD. you'll just have to renew it after you renew your EAD.

in getting the DL, it's more up to the person who processes your application at the DMV in regards to how long your DL will be good for. so there's no one office to go to.

i would go on a busy day, like monday or tuesday, or even a super busy office and have everything you need ready so that they dont have to wait and get annoyed. the "happier" the worker is (or busier) then the higher the chances are that they wont look at the expiration date on your EAD.

good luck
