This is my first post and just wanted to give somebody some hope that USCIS is moving things along. I applied for a U Visa back in MAY 2012. I received my receipt May 29 and Biometrics not long after that sometime in June. My Case was approved July 1, 2013 . My Lawyer advised me to apply for DACA since he thought I might get a work permit sooner but they actually moved my DACA case to VT where they process the U Visas. I don't care anymore about my DACA case because after 3 years I can apply for a green card. If your in my position don't apply for DACA and save yourself the fee since they will just combine your case. U visas take a long time so be patient. I highly recommend getting a lawyer that has experience with them. I spent a lot of $$$$ on this but it was worth every penny. I hope this gives someone hope because I know I looked every other day to see if that little blue ball would move.

If you have a U-Visa approved.. then do you still qualify for DACA? I thought you had to be out of status for DACA

Well I technically applied for DACA before I had status? I don't know what's going to happen to my DACA case. I never received a notice for biometrics so I'm hoping I can cancel it and get a refund. Lol I know that will never happen.

Well, one of the main requirements is to be out of status before applying and you already are in a status............ so talk to you lawyer about this and tell him to check out the USCIS page of DACA because if your visa is current then I don't think you qualify for DACA or actually maybe. Gosh I forget was the main thing that relates to this

-_-

I've been saying the same thing here for as long as I can remember.465 is a lot of money one can save if they just wait for a few more months of processing IF they are well along in their U visa application.

I'm glad everything worked out in the end,and your DACA case is more than likely thrown out as you have a relevant Legal status now.

Hey my mom got her u visa approved but her lawyer won't give her her documents that arrived two days ago bc first she has to sign something saying her case is done and that won't happen for weeks bc he is so busy. How soon did your lawyer give u your documents?
