Hello everyone, new member here.

A quick info about me, I have had a valid driver's license from Oregon since I was 16, I was lucky to get my new 8yr license before the law went into affect back in 2007? I still have 3yrs left before it expires.

I was accepted about less then a month ago for DACA and the question I have is this:

My valid driver's license only has my mother's maiden name. When we first applied we showed birth certificate and passport and not sure why dad's maiden name is not on there.

So when I got accepted for DACA it now has both maiden name's on there.

What do I need to do to get my license corrected so it matches my new DACA information? If I go into DMV and show all my paper work would they give me a new drivers license with the NEW 2yr license?

I'm trying to open a bank account with my new SS#, but I'm afraid they will say the name's do not match because both last names are not in my valid Driver's License.

Well that is all, any information would help. Thank you,

I also had a license in IL that was expired back on 05 and it only had my dads last name. When I went in to get my new one they corrected it to match my EAD card with both last names. In IL they issue 5 year licenses to all DACA approved individuals. If Oregon issues them until EAD card expires like many states then when you go to renew my guess is it will be a 2 year license.

As far as the bank account goes. A lot of banks open up accounts with just your EAD and matricula. But you can probably stop by and try with whatever bank you choose and see what they say.

I'm not completely sure how the process is in Oregon, but if you already have a valid DL w/ 3 years still left on it, there's technically no need to do anything? After all it is your valid license with most of your information on it. A lot of non-government places don't care as much about second names & last names, as long as your first name, one last name & date of birth match. Do you have an SSN already? How is your name on that?

As far as I know, the only issue you would have is when it's time to renew it.

If I was you, I wouldn't worry about it too much, and when it's time to renew it, you should just need to add your SSN to it, since you didn't have to do it the first time? (That's how it is in Washington, I still have a valid license from there, so when I get an SSN, I would just need to show them that & get it updated it)

Basically it depends on what DMV office you visit. Some are strict about documents showing you have legal presence and how your information is on everything, and others just want to see you have a valid SSN, like it happened to my brother..

Yes I got my new SS# with all my new DACA information with both parents last name. Just the my current valid ID only shows one.

I opened a BUSINESS name and got a EIN for taxes and next is getting a Business Bank Account and little concern going in and showing my driver's license.

I could go into DMV and get a updated license but I don't want them to take off a year since I still have 3yrs left on it, and DACA will only get me 2.

I think you should try to go and tell them you just want to update your SSN on it, that's it. Since your license is still valid, i really don't think they'll question you much, since you will show them your valid social security card. Don't even mention your EAD. Hopefully if they don't ask to see it they won't take off a year, since the social doesn't have any expiration dates on it.

From my experience, many DMVs are a bit less strict if you already have a valid license as opposed to going in for the first time with nothing. Good luck!
