Florida Dreamers and College/Universities

I'm going to be a Senior in high school this fall and have been searching extensively at private scholarships and the few institutions that allow in-state tuition. I was wondering, how have those of you in college/university been able to pay your tuition, and could you recommend some scholarships/institutions to look at?

Also, I am interested in going to med. school in the future and I want to know if any of you have been able to get the chance, and if so, how did you do it?

I will be attending college in the fall and I also live in Florida. Florida Memorial University in Miami Gardens can and is willing to give you a full tuition scholarship if your unweighted GPA is 3.5 or above. Regardless of immigration status. I am pretty that Bethune Cookman University in Tampa is willing to as well. I hope this helps.

Thumbsup,I will be attending Florida Memorial. I had to apply as an international student. However, because of my grades I was given an institutional scholarship that covers my entire tuition. I have to pay fees and books but I am so happy that I can afford to attend college. Idreamqt, no public school in Florida offers us in state tuition. Bethune Cookman and Florida Memorial are both private schools and are both historically black colleges (which may be why they are so generous to underprivileged kids but I do not know for sure ). Bethune Cookman is in Tampa and you can receive a scholarship that covers tuition,fees,and room and board but your grades have to very good. I attended community college and alternated between being a part-time and full-time student due to funds. I did have the Esperanza scholarship so that helped. I paid for school by babysitting, cleaning people's homes, tutoring and braiding hair. But since you do have DACA now, getting a job should be a bit easier--at least you have a definite income.

FIU, FAU, and UF are schools that allow in-state tuition to DACA recipients. You could try applying to community colleges and state colleges such as Valencia without letting them know you are illegal. Just send the required paperwork in and cross your fingers. Also, it definitely helps if you have a family member such as a sibling or cousin that can file you under their taxes. That way, since you are considered dependent, the person you depend from is a resident or citizen, and they might overlook anything else required from you.
I myself am planning on having my sister file me under her taxes (even though I really do depend on her, which makes it easier). I just graduated in May and will have to wait until the spring or summer to start school (which is driving me insane since I don't even have a job yet since I haven't been approved yet).

I was granted instate tuition, yet it's still expensive to me. Reading on here I've found that some are receiving scholarships from schools that bring down the cost. If anyone knows of any school that will help with that in the state of Florida, please advise. Thanks Naxield, good luck!
