Once they got permanent residency I also had an immediate derivative immigrant visa available for a year. However a temporary visa was used to get me here EVEN THOUGH the immigrant visa for a green card was still available. That's what I meant by not picked up.
I don't want to go into details, but there was a benefit to this but only for them. U.S. citizen can still fix the status of their unmarried under 21 children. That was not done either. And now I'm too old for that. I am no longer considered an immediate relative. So even if I did get petitioned by a USC parent now I'd have a 7 year wait for an immigrant visa and another 10 year wait outside the US due to unlawful presence bar. Awesome If I end up fixing my status myself (be it marriage or immigration reform) then I will forget them entirely. They won't know my address or phone. I have no need in my life for someone like that. |
