thought i would post it here, so you guys could get an idea of how small minded some people are.

http://www.immigrationwatchdog.com/?p=3766#comments

i gave up. i stopped to think about how i was wasting my time arguing with these people, while i could be spending my time telling people who are in favor of a reform that they won't regret their decision.

Ditto, I don't see a point to discuss with those who are opposing. Just keep in mind that many of the opponents are afraid their jobs could be taken away from illegal immigrants who are smarter and work harder.

It is sad that people do not see this debate for what it really is. The whole debate about immigration reform is purely political. Most economists, and their research, show that legalizing the current undocumented population will not harm the U.S economy. Sure, there are some economists that disagree with the previous statement. Nevertheless, most agree that the economy will not be harmed by legalizing the undocumented population. So, if we know that the economy will be fine, then the argument cannot be about the economy and must be about something else; the issue at hand is more likely to be about culture. I hate to speculate without real evidence, but I feel that the true debate is about identity. This also leads me to believe that immigration reform is being held back by xenophobia.

I came here when i was 11 too, i went to a school run by nuns as well, and i agree w/u on the education, yea school was alot harder back home and alot of the stuff learned here i already knew. but you know what? if u say that to those people they'll get more fired up because it makes u sound ungrateful. My home country is really small. and yet there are tons of illegal immigrants there crowding the place, and these americans are complaining that we hard working immigrants are crowding this country? the states is REALLY big, i doubt it's gonna get crowded just because of hard working illegal immigrants. I'd uinderstand if someone from my home country said that, because the place is REALLY SMALL, but to say that about the united states? GIVE ME A BREAK!
