Not sure what got deleted but for the record, both my parents have green cards. They're old and I have to support one while the other works at the age of 75 to make it to social security but they both have green cards. Big whoop. I'm sure you'll say "aha! that's why you don't care about other people's parents!" You'd be wrong.

It took about 21 years for them to get theirs through a citizen sibling. I was also apart from my father for 20 of those 21 years and had been resigned to never seeing him again and honestly, I missed out on the years when I really could have used a father and instead got a frail old man that resembles Grandpa Simpson instead so don't think for a second that I don't know what it's like to have parents that you care about who don't have papers. Spend 20 years apart from your parents and maybe I'll care.

If you ask either of them whether they would give their green card to me and trade legal statuses with me, either of them would do it in a heartbeat. I wouldn't hesitate to take them up on the offer if it was possible either because I still have more of my life ahead and it's their job as parents to let their kids meet their needs before theirs. It just so happened that the law was on their side and not mine.

How long have your parents waited?

That's incredibly mean spirited. I understand you don't agree with him but its rude to just laugh at him like that. Its due to people like iamaman that DACA even became a possibility. Pay some respect to the generation that paved the way.

So you are telling me I have to pay respect to a person who keeps on telling me they would throw my parents under the bus for personal gain any day? I don't even know who the guy is but ok just leave me out of it now, too much drama going on here lately.

Listen, I'm not telling you to love him or agree with him, but just try to use some empathy. If you were in his shoes you'd feel the same, and he your feelings if he were in yours. I agree with your final point though, bickering with each other isn't gonna solve anything.

Technically yes, but without the advocacy of older dreamers dating back to the early 2000s it was never going to be used as an electoral prop.

So according to you, the older dreamers made this possible but the younger ones didn't so we should be grateful to them but in this post you talk in a more plural sense. Which is it? Lets not backpedal alright?

Unless by those you still mean older dreamers
