Hey guys,

I've been working with American Friends Service Committee to create a guide for DREAMers who want to attend college. I'm basically calling up schools in the east coast, private and public, and asking what their individual policies are. Some are not helpful, but a lot of schools are lenient and offer options to undocumented students. The most important thing is to contact schools and plead your individual case. Some accept you as an international student and allow you to qualify for merit scholarships or need-based, private financial aid. Others don't ask about legal status.

I was hoping that those who frequent this site can tell me more about the colleges they have attended and the policies in those schools.

The guide will also include legal organizations who provide help, as well as educational enrichment programs and scholarships that do not require legal status. If you know of any that help undocumented students, please let me know!

I'm working on this because I was formerly an undocumented student, but was able to attend college on a full ride because of the school's great policies. There's so much information and so many options out there and I feel that it's important to collect it and publish it for all of us to use.

Any help would be appreciated!

Sign me up for a subscription. I'm very interested and I'll try to help and do some research for the schools on the west coast.

Great project, guys. Please let us know how we can help in other ways, such as including a link to your findings once it's complete.

Washington State is the only University which has a personal 1079 person who helps undocumented students I heard, from my younger brother who is about to start attending here (he is a US citizen though), I've received help as well attending WSU, through private scholarships which WSU helped find for me. When I applied I left the social security part blank, and thats about as far as that went...? Feel free to PM me for more questions?

I believe if you live in Texas and qualify as a Texas resident, you can receive basically a full-ride to any Texas public universities.
I am attending UT right now and I receive a full grant for my tuition and fees.
You just fill out the TASFA (Texas Application for State Financial Aid) and send it directly to the financial aid office at the school.
There's actually a site that describes the whole thing.

TEXAS Grant:

TPEG Grant:
http://www.collegefortexans.com/apps...fa2.cfm?ID=406

Those two are the grants that I'm receiving right now.

I currently attend McDaniel College in MD and they don't care about your legal status. You'll apply as an international, but their merit scholarships are very generous.

I attend the University of Pennsylvania. They give financial aid to undocumented students only from Mexico and Canada.

Here's also a list of schools that give full rides to admitted undocumented students.

Harvard
Yale
Princeton
Amherst
Pomona College
Dartmouth College
University of Pennsylvania
University of Chicago
Columbia
Brown
Cornell
Swathmore College

Seeing this list makes me realize that I should of applied to more schools when I was finishing high school. I knew that I would have a small chance of getting into a school on this list, but I didn't apply because my thinking was: I can attend the school, but what am I going to do with the degree, I can't get a job anyways.

I know that in Oregon you can now get instate tuition if you meet certain criteria, but we still can't get financial aid, besides private scholarships or scholarships that don't ask what your legal status is. There's a thread about Oregon tuition somewhere.
