Yes take it. I hadn't read on here that they would ask that as I got on the plane but took it just in case. They asked citizenship and when I said Mexican they asked for my passport , I showed them my permit they asked where I worked & that was that kinda scared me a bit

So they gave you no hassle about your permit?? I think the citizenship question might be random. Anyhow, they let you come back so I guess we can. Thanks everyone!

Yeah, this sounds about right as CBP is the only agency that would technically ask for status on the return flight. It is why I used to mention if you didn't have any documentation[such as DACA] it could prove to be an issue when returning as they monitor return flights to the mainland US for immigrants who entered PR illegally and then try to catch US bound flights.

PR is safe as long as you carry your DACA documentation.

Official statement from the U.S. Customs and Border Protection website:

"U.S. Citizens and Lawful Permanent Residents (LPR's) who travel directly between parts of the United States, which includes Guam, Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, American Samoa, Swains Island and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI), without touching at a foreign port or place, are not required to present a valid U.S. Passport or U.S. Green Card. "

source: https://help.cbp.gov/app/answers/det...o%20rico/sno/1

So there you have it...all you need is a state ID or DL.
Just make sure not to touch a foreign port or place and you'll be good.

So what are you suggesting they do when CBP asks the citizenship question? Everyone should take at the very least their DACA approval letter or their EAD along with a state ID. Just in case CBP chooses to give you a hard time.

Also, you didn't read the Article on American Samoa. American Samoa maintains its own customs separate of the US. DACA will not provide protection and you would be considered to have self-deported

It only mention LPR and U.S. citizen, DACA not included.

I'm not sure about this one. Not require to present one doesn't mean not require to have one.

The general point is that there are people who had successfully travel to some of these places, but there is a small chance for you to run into trouble. So, it's totally up to you to risk it or not.

umm..tell them the truth, that you have obtained deferred action and traveling within US territories and not leaving the country because you are not authorize to do so. That is the whole point of having DACA; to NOT be deported.
