Hello everybody. I would like to, firstly, wish you all luck with your DACA process, or congratulate you if you have been approved. I have already been approved and received my approval notice and my employment authorization card. I have also applied for and received my social security card. Everything is sailing smooth, but I just have one question. Will my employment authorization card + state ID + approval notice be sufficient to get past the inland immigration checkpoints? My whole immediate family lives in Kansas because jobs pay better and El Paso is just too hectic. (We like the country life ) So I want to join them. I'm hoping my state ID gets here tomorrow, *crosses fingers* or the day after, so I can avoid all the people traveling for Thanksgiving break. Right now I only have my temporary ID, and my last resource would be to use that temporary ID. Could I get in trouble for that? Again, thank you all for your help and I really really hope you dreamers get approved and if you're a skeptic, go ahead and apply, there's a very slim chance that you will end up worse than how you started, trust me.

Your EAD alone is sufficient.

As "sans" said, the EAD alone is sufficient.

A word of advice: Make sure you keep a copy of all your documents in a safe place, if you are going to carry the originals while you travel. Many people have lost their documents or have had them stolen. Also from the USCIS website:

Quote:
Q9: What should I do if I meet the guidelines of this process and have been issued an ICE detainer following an arrest by a state or local law enforcement officer?

A9: If you meet the guidelines and have been served a detainer, you should immediately contact either the Law Enforcement Support Center’s hotline at 1-855-448-6903 (staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week) or the ICE Office of the Public Advocate either through the Office’s hotline at 1-888-351-4024 (staffed 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday – Friday) or by email at [email protected].
Keep those numbers with you at all times, just in case!

Thanks for the numbers, will definitely write them down and save them in my wallet As far as the documents go, I will make sure to keep all the originals in my laptop bag and hold on to it as if my life depended on it (It kinda does lol). My biggest fear really is having to be called into the little offices of doom that are at the checkpoints and the bus taking off without me.

Did you ever cross the check point? I would really like to know. I'm going tomorrow. I'm somewhat nervous and will do it with my TX dl and EAD. If anyone else know please let us know thank you!

You should be fine. Take a copy of your I-821D approval letter with you if you can and if you're stopped and questioned by BP, just hand them your EAD and copy of the I-821D.
