House Majority Leader Eric Cantor won't commit to holding a vote this fall on legislation providing a path to legalization for the 11 million undocumented immigrants in the country.

“A simple yes or no, are you committed to a vote this year on a path to legalization?” “Fox News Sunday” host Chris Wallace asked Cantor in an interview aired Sunday.

“We will have a vote on a series of bills at some point,” Cantor replied. “And it will deal with a variety of issues. Border security is a really important issue because it goes to that trust factor, as well.”

The Virginia Republican added the House will take up a “kids bill,” a GOP version of the DREAM Act that would provide a path to citizenship for children brought to the country illegally by their parents.

Pressed again on whether he would hold a vote on overall legalization, Cantor said the House would not take the same approach as the Senate.

“I have said that we will be addressing the issue of immigration in the House, according to our terms, not the way the Senate did, because as you know now, there's a lot of doubt being cast on whether the folks who voted for that know even what, in the end, was voted on, because of the scramble to get the votes in the -- in the last piece of that legislative activity,” he said.

“And we're going to do it a lot more deliberative and smart in the House.”
I guess we'll have to see how this all plays out in the House Judiciary and subsequently on the House floor.

When do these clowns plan to reveal their 'own terms' for immigration reform? When do they finish their fantasy bills where immigrants become permanent disposable workers? Their only aim is to run down the clock, that is what their 'terms' amount. They are a disgrace to the country.

I thought a secured border and mandatory e-verify was the terms the republicans have been asking for since the last time CIR was the issue.

What the Republucans have done to the CIR after it passed the Senate is so sad..that literally every immigrant banking on it will cry tears of blood. That is how I feel at least even though I may not show the emotions. They have ruthlessly murdered our hopes in the past few weeks. Our fams are in complete limbo now..What a sad sad situation..I'm outta here..time to just live with what we do have because these people are hopeless.

Two words; Tea party. Often associated with Bigotry, voting against economic interests, and living in a fantasy world where the US is declining and in ridicule because of the Socialist Dictator

There are elements within the Tea Party that supports immigration reform you know? Doesn't anyone remember this Forbes article from a few months back? It wasn't written by a leftist, a liberal, progressive, etc.

It was from someone from the Ayn Rand Institute. Rand herself was in support of a radical open borders policy.

Milton Friedman, whom Tea Partiers loved last I checked, actually argues in favor of illegal immigration. He argues it's the better alternative to legal migration so long as a welfare state exists.

Oh Frank Knight i like reading your posts. How many Rand's do you think are in the house? how many of these old GOPers would support something like that?

The main goal for most of these guys is to keep their job, most of these guys face elections next year back at home and they'll get eaten up.
