To claim EITC on your tax return, you must meet all the following rules:
You, your spouse (if you file a joint return), and all other listed on Schedule EIC, must have a valid Social Security Number.
You must have earned income from working for someone else or running or operating a farm or business;
Your filing status cannot be married filing separately.
You must be a U.S. citizen or resident alien all year, or a nonresident alien married to a U.S. citizen or resident alien and filing a joint return.
You cannot be a qualifying child of another person.
You cannot file Form 2555 or Form 2555 EZ. (Related to foreign earn income)
You must meet these EITC Income Limits, Maximum Credit Amounts and Tax Law Updates
And you must meet one of the following:
Have a qualifying child (see who is a qualifying child below), or
If you do not have a qualifying child, you must:
be age 25 but under 65 at the end of the year,
live in the United States for more than half the year, and
not qualify as a dependent of another person.
If you qualify for EITC, you have to file a tax return with the IRS, even if you owe no tax or are not required to file.

Great find. I had someone tell me we all would be eligible for it. Glad I know whats up now.

Also, some douchebag on a blog was bitching about DACA peeps getting that credit. Now I can tell him to STFU and show him that..

I will be married to a USC so I will still be eligible for it.

When you file your taxes with an ITIN, you do not get the credits a person with a social security will get. Now, by having your SS# you will be able to get the money you were not able to get with your ITIN. Just giving you guys the heads up
how do you do that ? what office do you go to ?

I filed a 1040x tax amendments for 2009, 2010 and 2011. The IRS website says amendments take 8-12 weeks to be processed since the day they were received, it's been 15 weeks since mine were received and no word yet. Called the IRS this morning and I was told they are taking a little longer to process returns, that they are behind. Anyone else in this situation?
Now I'm wondering if there was something wrong w my forms ?? :/

I filed for both 2010,2011 amended taxes and got a approximately $5k each year for EIC. I did have to wait over 12 weeks for it since they had trouble with my social for some weird reason.

EIC: Earned income credit?

I filed this year with my SSN and i pretty much got the same as i got the year before. I did started using my new SSN at work in October though.

I should probably go back to my tax guy and look it over again.
