I had a question regarding the dream act and deferred action. I know the fascist Janice Brewer has disallowed individuals that attained lawful status through DACA from obtaining driver's licenses. If I were to get a driver's license from a neighboring state such as California or New Mexico, would that be valid in the state of Arizona? I mean I know technically it would be on a normal basis, but given the special circumstances with Jan brewer specifically shutting down driving privileges to deferred action 'dreamers,' would this be a problem? I'm not sure if you have heard anything but someone I recently spoke to CLAIMS that he heard something on the news 2 months back that stated that Jan Brewer said that if DACA recipients receive a driver's license from another state, it will be considered "invalid" in her state. That doesn't make much sense to me. Have you heard anything about this?

Thank you!

there is no way for the state of AZ to know how you got your DL from another state like CA. CA DLs do not have limited term stated on them or anything like that. the CA DL would be valid for either 2 years (the same length as your EAD) or the full 5 yrs. also, there is no way that the governor of AZ can make a valid DL from a different state invalid for any reason. she cant control what other states do.

i just got my CA DL and all i had to show was my EAD. nothing else. then once you have your DL, there is no need to carry or show your EAD (unless for employment purposes). And then when you get a job, all you have to show are your EAD and SSN. no need to show your CA DL.

Don't worry, Brewer is powerless when it comes to DLs coming from other states. It would be very difficult to consider a license invalid if they can't differentiate it from others'.

A DL from a neighboring state will allow you to drive in Arizona just like any other driver.

The only issue that could arise is if you are ever pulled over, the car you will be driving will have AZ license plate and the officer might ask you why you never changed over your out-of-state license to an AZ DL. You could say you are visiting your parents/family or that you just moved here and you hadn't had a chance to visit the DMV.

No I am staying at a hotel but staying for like 4 to 5 days. They said 48 hours wait in case I fail either one. So that way I get 2 tries. I really hope I pass them both on the first try tho! Wish me luck !
