I guess most of you have watched or read or even heard of what happened today, it was a low blow to all of us with a dream, its 4 am in the east coast and im up just refreshing the news page on google, wishing praying some kind of better news comes up but nothing, i dont know what to do or say, as many of you i had so many plans for 08, telling myself i was going to do all these things when i got my condition resedency, i feel so down. more down than ive ever felt in my life, last year hurt so much i mean it destroyed so many of us inside, especially after having it passed in the senate and then detroyed by the house, i feel like life is just flying by,i think the thing that hurts more is the fact that we all beleive the 2nd time around something could have happened, i know most of you say we should not give up, and im trying not to , but this a emotional rollercoaster that is hurting alot of us inside... i dont know what to do anymore... im hopeless

Meh, tell me about it, I think my mom is about to have an heart attack. But either way... sure, it's hard to keep hope in these cases. Parents losing all hope, saying they want to pack their things and go back to our country, I don't think that's the way to play the game...we should stay, and look around some more for new opportunities that could lead me towards that goal. We're not totally hopeless..

I'm almost at a loss for words at the moment. I don't think that I've experienced anything like I did last night. I've overcome the initial shock, and at this moment I'm thinking about what my next step should be. I will not give up, and in the word of Senator Salazar, "failure is not an option."

For some on this board, another 2 year wait may be hard to stomach, but within reason. The same does not hold for me, or some of the other older DREAMies on this forum. The time to act is now. Take this obstacle and burst through it. For us vets on this board, we need to act with a sense of urgency, and I'd ask that we all adopt this mindset. Perhaps things will be better in 2009. Perhaps we will have more honorable leaders who are really dedicated to seeing something pass. But I could say that in this debate, we did have some very honorable champions of this bill. WE CANNOT WAIT UNTIL 2009.

Some have pointed out that ALIPAC expended a great amount of time and energy to call their representatives. Shouldn't we do the same? Perhaps we think that we've already done what we can. But I say take those efforts, and multiply them tenfold in the next few weeks. The next few weeks are very crucial to those who care about this bill. I've always been first and foremost an advocate of the DREAM Act. But to be honest, I also don't want to see CIR fail. I will focus on both. After seeing my mom and dad in tears last night, I knew that I could not give up. I've seen them cry over this subject in the past, but not with the level of despair that I witnessed last night. What do you say to someone who has toiled away in this country for over 20 years? I did my best to remain strong. Indeed, we must all be strong.

In the following days, we need to unite as a board. We cannot expect to achieve victory if we are complacent. I apologize to those who have already put forth a great effort to make a difference, and might be offended by that. And for those that are new to the board or have recently come across the DREAM Act, I urge you to take a stand with us. I may not have all the answers, but I'll tell you what I'm going to do. I'll vow to increase my efforts until I see something change. I'll start by contacting Reid and Durbin everyday in the following weeks. I've done this before, but I'll do it with a renewed vigor of someone who simply cannot wait for something to pass in two years. I'll thank them for what they've done, and I'll especially encourage Reid to pursue action soon. Remember, we cannot let this bill fester too long, otherwise it will be forgotten. I just recently read an article which I'll post later that quoted a spokesperson for Tancredo that said that opponents of this bill should not be complacent as there is a chance that this bill could be brought up again.

As far as DREAM is concerned, it should still be our number one goal. For those of you in the DC/East Coast area, some at CoSA are planning to be more active as far as contacting and lobbying congressmen. If you're interested, check out http://www.cosaonline.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7143
Durbin should be in our sights. I cannot stress enough the sense of urgency with which we must act if we are to see positive results. PM me if you guys want to talk about somethings that we can do, and that we will actually go forward with.

And to all of you on this board, keep your heads up. We have not lost yet.

DREAM. Act.

i know what i'm doing. i'm refusing to leave no matter what.

i'll wait a couple more years, but i won't give any satisfaction to the xenophobic assholes that want me out. i wasted 2 years of my life already, what's another 2?

i'll earn a green card someday, and i'll smear it in the faces of the backward, inbred, rednecks, who live in tennessee, mississippi, alabama, texas etc.

That's well and good, but will you be resolved to fight even harder to make legislation bill pass this year? Remember, the fight is not yet over.

Its so weird cause most ppl in general look at fame and fortune as something so far and hard to obtain, if anyone became filthy rich over night it would shock them to the point that mentally they might not be able to handle it, the more they shut us down the more the green card looks like that to me, and probably all of you, its so fustrating and im so scared as to what i should do , but i do hope durbin will keep his promise of gettin dream passed this year

But let us act on that hope and do something. We can start with Reid and Durbin.
