Hi all I do not know wether this was already asked. I entered GED in the search box but nothing came up. I found the Florida one but I don't think it fully relates to what I need.

So I know a couple of people who dropped out of high school years ago due to their own personal reasons. Now with DACA they have/are planning to enroll in adult school to get their GED. My question is, is it better for them to apply after they obtain their GED? or is it ok for them to apply for DACA by just showing proof of enrollment? Which one will be faster in helping them get approved quicker?

Thanks

My brother who didn't have a GED before applying got slapped with an RFE regarding his GED, they asked for a crap ton of info about the GED, luckily for him he finished and passed his GED so all we did was send his GED diploma. Be prepared to either pass the GED ( it really doesn't take that long for somebody to finish the course. My brother went a total of 3 days to freshen up, and then he bit the bullet) or comply with the RFE and all of what they ask. DO NOT TAKE THAT LIGHTLY EITHER. My brother passed and after the RFE he got approved a week later. We are early applicants so processing times might take longer now a days. GOOD LUCK!

Hi polkadots! I think you can get that info at your local community college. I know for sure that some colleges offer those services. Tell your friends not to apply if they don't meet the requirements. I know is a little confusing when one of the requirements is to be currently enrolled in school towards high school diploma or GED. However that only counts for the high school future graduates, for example the upcoming class of 2014. I personally heard that from my lawyer.

Yeah no.. currently enrolled in school means precisely that. You can be in a GED course and still be able to get deferred. You will need to provide a lot of information, but it can be done. Check your local Adult schools doesn't have to be a College, local unified school districts offer a lot of opportunities for the community. There's a lot of help out there.
