in less than a month. I just changed my ssn at work(fake to real).

I'm probably applying at a credit union.

For those that applied can I get your input of how it went.

How much the loan was?
Was it your first time?
what the best interest rate is?
Did they question your new SSN since you might now have credit at all?
because I don't have jack.
I really want $10,000 but i doubt it. I'll get like 3-5grand

I have a steady job.

25K
yes
9k ( 16k+9k)
No, used ITIN, they actually asked me for it.

I got a loan one time for a car worth 25k - including interests, had no issue getting the loan, but as requisite I had to put a huge down payment (8k) , and I had used my ITIN number. There are places where you can get smaller loans but that depends from dealership to deadership. I haven't deal directly with any banks/credit unions. Y ou should be able to get something as long you have a stable job.

Btw, I payed about 17k, and couldn't afford it anymore so I had to let the car go (this was when the economy went down the toilet). I actually had job offers but without papers It it was no use. So this is yet another thing that strucked me for not having papers. I couldn't do anything about it so I had to move on.

In my own advise if you can buy a used car first, cheaper, without too much debt I'd recommend that. I bought a truck in payments from the owner and that is what I drive now, fully paid for, and no interests.

That car I bought with the loan I could of have gotten it for maybe 13k or 14k in cash, I had 8k, just had save a litttle more and avoid the whole ordial of paying such a high interest. I was a little ignorant about that kind of issue back then, so If i knew what I know now I wouldn't have gotten that loan.

The bank is gonna want to know your credit history over all things. Did you establish a credit history? Have at least 6 months or more of using a credit card responsibly before taking out a loan.

My friend did this and he was lucky enough to get a good loan (although it wasn't with a credit union). His payment is about $150 a month and he had financed around $9000 (with 2000 down). 5 years FYI.

As you probably know, Credit Unions will take into account more things than the credit history. And they will try to resolve issues instead of denying your loan application.

I'm trying to do the same. I'm hoping I can find a credit union that will give me a loan. Not looking for anything big, 10K at the most. Hopefully I can get it. I have so many interviews and jobs that I want to apply for but not having a car is stalling me from doing it.

I think Credit Union is only option. Preferably buy from a dealer and he/she will send you to credit unions he does business with. If you had history with ITIN, send letters to all bureaus notifying them. Your SSN is still new. I get the feeling the credit union might have some trouble pulling out a credit score but I might be wrong. Financial institutions usually are able to pull information regardless of how new the SSN. Anyway, I got close to 7K loan at 4.9%, it was the lowest rate available for my 2004 model. When u get the car loan, just make sure the payments are accurate according to rate and months. Enroll in direct debit. After few months, start making more payments and you see how your credit will skyrocket. Good luck.

Thank you for all the replies.

I will certainly go to a credit union for sure and buy a car from Craigslist.
I also would like to know when you fill out the application do they ask about
Your legal status? Us citizen or resident. Or other? I'm afriad they might ask about my
Status and I wouldn't want to lie.
