8 lesson is more than enough.

A mental attitude of confidence, self assurance in you ability to handle the vehicle with ease and finesse, will be the deciding factor of how fast you will achieve mastery. It is possible to program this belief, attitude into your subconscious mind through hypnosis listening to this program everyday for 1-3 week will instill this mental attitude into your subconscious mind which will greatly accelerate your learning ability.

Also supplement your learning by watching instructional videos on YouTube, for different driving maneuvers preferable before going to sleep. Doing this will active mirror neurons in your brain thus accelerating your learning.

Your thinking, metal attitude will mirror the results you achieve when learning to drive. So take conscious control of your thought process and create the results you want to experience in your minds eye, before you begin your lessons.

I agree with Swim. 8 lessons is plenty to pass the test assuming you don't screw up your parking, but it will be years before you can be a great driver and anticipate most of the things you'll encounter. Unfortunately, TOO MUCH confidence later can be a bad thing too and make you let your guards down to the point where you're just cruising along the freeway the same way you have 200 other times and not realize cars have all come to a sudden stop at an exit and boom. So don't do that either.

Pass your test and stay within your limits until you gain more and more confidence. You'll be alright.

I'll have to disagree with you about it taking years to be a great driver, perhaps 'VeryNicePerson1' has a higher level of intelligence than most people so for him to achieve that goal it may take months instead of years.

Overall good advice!

You don't know what you don't know. You may think you're a great driver but what's going to happen when all of a sudden you're caught in a flash flood and have to make split second decisions about which road to take, which side of the street to be on, seek higher ground, etc. A lot of people who think they are great drivers end up flooding their car or getting into accidents. What if there is a sudden snow or ice storm?

Freeway driving and long-term driving (3 hours plus) also require a different set of skills. I'm not saying this to sound all high and mighty, but reality is that it takes time.

No way am I going to prance around thinking I am a great driver. I am a very humble person.

I am actually going to take things very slow, even after I get a drivers license.

I am just concentrating on passing the test as soon as possible, once I get my full license, then I can practice with rent-a-cars anytime I want.

I do not know anyone with a driver license who I can hang out with and practice driving many times a week. I am relying on paid driving lessons, and hopefully I pass this driving test soon so I can practice by myself without having to keep repaying for additional lessons and retaking road tests because I failed or something...

I am actually eager for my 2nd lesson, as my 1st lesson was 1 hour and it was over before I even knew it and I didn't want to stop, I feel like I have something to accomplish and it got cut short and I have to wait another week for the next lesson...lol...

Thanks everyone for the tips, you guys are great.

I only did 2 and that was more than enough to pass

First time driving too, I think what helped me was practicing with my dad in his car and I was able to buy a car as soon as I got my permit so I practiced with it and passed my driving test within 2 weeks of having a permit

Yep, I really wish I had someone I can practice with as I believe 2-4 weeks of continuous daily practice would've been great, but I gotta work with what I got

I would recommend to drop the classes with gaps in between and do it consecutively.

I am scheduling the lessons around when I have free time, only weekends.

I also still don't know my test date, I should know it by this week maybe. Then I will probably schedule the weekend before that day (test day will most likely be a weekday), and possibly 1 lesson on the same day of the test in early am, if my test time is in the afternoon or something.

If you have invested your time wisely by cultivating your critical thinking faculty, driving can, will be a simple task. If you live in an area prone to sudden severe weather, it would be wise to utilize the power of modern technology that accurately predict weather patterns from free services such as woweather, wunderground or NOAA before hitting the roads, wouldn't you agree?

Think about this for a minute, there's over 100million drivers on the road that ingest dangerous mind altering psychotropic drugs daily, millions of people with an IQ below 100 and the majority of them safely commute in traffic everyday. Driving is a simple, mundane task, it really doesn't require any special ability or high level of intelligence just simple practice, concentration and good ol' common sense.

@VeryNicePerson1
Being humble when learning a new skill is the best attitude to have. I would suggest eliminate any thought of failure from you mind if you truly desire to pass your road test on the first try. When you want to pass an exam in school you study to ace it, right? Same thing with driving, practice to pass the test and you will.

Prepare mentally with positive visualizations, imagine yourself driving calmly with ease stopping at the signs, looking both ways, using your signals, looking in the mirrors, 3point turns, parallel parking etc. This is a technique utilize by pro athletes, CEOs and other high profile people.

I didn't have much driving practice either (5lessons) I just watched a lot of institutional videos on YouTube, replacing my lack of hands on driving experience with visual mental conditioning, very powerful mind exercise.
