Why, oh why???????

Obama is speaking live now: The U.S. will take 'limited' military action in Syria. Since when is military action in a foreign country NOT war??????

He is now saying "We will have a debate in Congress for this and seek approval for action". "Enforcing accountability for Syria's actions against its people" is priority.

So much for immigration reform being his number 1 priority. On the other hand, if he prefers this to take Congress's time, then it should make it non-controversial to offer deferred action to the undocumented population while he seeks debate to go to WAR. God, I feel like crying now.

I cannot believe the hypocrisy of this presidency - Obama has decided to attack Syria, but will try to seek Congress approval first. Going to war doesn't merit Congress returning early from vacation? Or working more than nine days in September? It is so digusting, he is Bush III masked as a Democrat.

I cannot wait to see how Congressional Democrats, and especially Senators, vote on this.

The week's time will most likely be used for sizing up the Syrian defenses and to gather intelligence like satellites and stuff to pick and choose targets. I think the US air strikes will focus on the Syrian dictator Assad's air forces and artillery to curtail his ability to launch chemical weapons against his own people. Targeting the chemical weapons might be too dangerous since they can escape into urban areas where Assad most likely hid them using human shields.

What's worrying is the Syrian and Iranian response. If they strike back at Israel, that'll draw the Israelis into the conflict as well and the US will have to protect its ally in the region.

@CIR_DREAM2009 Read intn'l press, Israel has already positioned ship and warfare in anticipation. This is utterly disgusting, and as is typical, we will not be told the truth until way after the fact.

Btw, Boehner emerged from his cave approx.9" ago to issue a public statement in support of the President's request for Congressional approval - excuse me, rubber stamp- for this war.
Lots of public statements of support from war-mongering Republicans with $$$oil$$$ signs written all over their foreheads. Is September now the unofficial month of war mongering? Congress is debating this on 9/9, two days before 9/11 anniversary.

Hearing the president saying he is all for bombing Syria, but says no boots on the grounds, is a two-faced lie. No boots for now. Guys here who have been clamoring to join the military, now is your chance, maybe he will amend DACA to allow for military enrollment. Because bombing civilian areas that will inevitably cause innocent casualties will solve the civil war in this country, right? I feel sick to my stomach.

I doubt Repubs and many Dems can even find Syria on a map. Idiots.

I never cared much for foreign policy before but since the Syria thing made major news, I'm finding it more and more fascinating. The rebel opposition in Syria has Al Qeada (sp?) elements to them, and its awful since Star Wars made me think rebels were always the good guys.

In this case, the US wants to weaken Iran and tolerating the terrorist rebels for the time being. What might be a best case scenario would be a partitioning of Syria while also making sure the Sunni part of Syria doesn't become an Islamic state.

We - the U.S.- have no business dividing other countries. In fact, other than participation in the liberation during WWII, U.S. involvement is a f* disaster wherever it sets foot. Look at Afghanistan, Iraq, Vietnam, Korea, and even the Balkans.

Domestically, you know what he is going to do? He is going to use the pretext of being at war to go REAL ID to the 10x. There will be no more pretense that we are not turning into a surveillance state. In immigration terms, this in theory, should be a clear argument that national security requires registration of every foreign national, so deferred action for everyone is a clearly attainable goal within a reasonable amount of time. Months, not years. The problem is that they have started with us, and then will move on to the citizenry. Keep an eye out for the National Identity File to come out in the open before the end of the year.

They're at each other's throats right now, and if the rebels get in power, there might be reprisals against religious and ethnic minorities in the country. This whole situation is giving me a headache, but Obama can't let chemical weapons be used indiscriminately. There's a taboo in its use for a reason.

But to get back on topic, let's see if Congress can do something, and if not, pressure the administration for more executive actions.

I had to Google 'illuminati'...You don't have to have a microchip, all you need is to lead a digital life, which we already do, and everything and everyone is connected and traceable.

Well. First of all. I don't think we should just be against this military action against Syria only because we think it will take away attention from Immigration Reform. I honestly think Congress will approve this and we will be seeing some bombardment in Syria and RIGHTLY so. The United States is the one who I believe started this "Arab Spring" by toppling Saddam. Now the world see's the U.S. as a big brother. And now when there is no doubt Syrians have killed their own folks with chemicals, Big Brother must step in to make a statement. In fact I think the U.S. owes it to the Syrians to take action. Let's not be selfish here. I'm sure this won't take away from CIR. I think CIR will see major action this month too. September is going to be a very important month for all of us.
