Sorry for the all the recent bad news guys ,but just posting what I've read thus far and this one isn't good at all.
Quote:
Grab a chair: Congress is about to get as fascinating and powerful as it gets.

In the next two months, the most unpopular institution in America will decide the fates of a president’s power, a military strike, defense contracts, the budget, health-care implementation, the Federal Reserve chairmanship, illegal immigrants, and all of us who would be hit by a debt default.

It will be bitter, ugly, extremely high stakes and in every case wildly unpredictable. “In 33 years, we’ve never come back from summer break with the number of very critical, important issues that we’re going to confront over the next 90 to 120 days,” House Democratic Whip Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) told us. “It’s an amazing time.”

Based on talking to the smartest members and aides we know, Republicans and Democrats alike feel the Syria resolution would not pass today, even after party leaders endorsed it. Immigration reform looks dead for this year and probably next. They think the chances of defaulting on debt are low, but not as low as many think because conservatives are showing no signs of bending. And they see very little hope of any budget deal that allows for major changes to the sequestration cuts................

..............—Immigration: The fall must-do list for Congress was already so crowded that House Republicans were spreading the word that there was unlikely to be time to finish an immigration package – a handy, albeit probably accurate, excuse. Until a few weeks ago, Hill strategists in both parties had said they thought immigration had a chance in 2015. Now, the smart money is on 2017.
I think perhaps where we can go from here is how to use DACA to its full potential. My ideas generally are that

-It could be something as simple as extrapolating the benefits of converting "EWI" to being inspected at a point of entry using Advanced Parole.

-If the intent is not to stay here gain the relevant work experience in the US through your DACA work permits while applying for permanent residency abroad and gain the benefit here at the embassy locally since you're legally present....provided the embassy allows it of course. Most of the embassies I've read seem to indicate that they just want proof showcasing the last year of being legally inside the US.

-If under 245i,it might be easier to seek work sponsorship if you have an approved EAD.

I've said it all along: 2016-- will be Hillary's year and 2017 will be ours. We should now pressure for DACA for our parents.

This due nothing congress, funding the government should not be an issue, don't know why now this takes center stage, a no brainer roads needs to maintained, military needs funding, etc, etc, frustrating this now consumes a lot of time + effort for law-makers to agree on.

I agree DACA for the 12 million, taking this from memory but I think the senate bill applies to all who were here prior 2011 or there about, so a DACA Type for 12 million who were present prior 2011 sounds reasonable to me.

BS to all of it. I want to hear Frank Sharry's magic ball and Gutierrez and Univision's that predict that brilliant waiting-for-the-right-moment strategy they sell the immigrant community. Just hold it so that I can go get popcorn...

My question now is when do we start pressuring the White House on this? And what is the best strategy?

If reform is not passed this year, that's a big blow. The next big thing is push DACA to 5 year or even 7 year, and deferred action for the 11 million. To me 5 year daca sounds more worth it than 2 stinking years, with a 6 month or 1 year wait time..
