Received SS card but with same # HELP!! - Page 3

I never said I didn't want the same number, I actually said I was hoping to get the same number cuz I didn't wanna lose all my credit and work history but I didn't think I could receive the same number since it said "not valid for employment" I was just not very knowledgable about all this and when they asked "have we ever issued u a SS card?" In my head I thought a valid SS to work. So I said "no" I didn't know they can just update the number from "not valid for employment" to "valid for work only with DHS authorization" it was simply not having knowledge of the situation y'all don't need to bash me saying "stop committing fraud"

Technically, this is true. But, if you think about it, every single US Citizen must have an SSN. No test or requirements other than being a US Citizen. So in other words, that's a lot of people who may not know their history or how any of these things work - i.e being ignorant. So this must happen all the time! ..And yes, being ignorant of the law doesn't excuse breaking it, but in cases like this, i'm sure they give people a break.

I'm sure jmedina6198 didn't mean every single one of us. If you didn't, you're lucky you didn't have to. Many of us have had resort to some of those things simply to get by & live. Like someone else said, if you don't have anything constructive to say, why say anything?

I'm not going to deny being douche bags at times but it's a valid question to ask why you're on here asking for #HELP!! when you know all the answers. You DID screw up by telling them you didn't have a social security card, but it looks like they found out and that was the end of it. And yes, that's how things work - when your status changes, your social security card changes with the same number. I know someone who was in the US 45 years ago and worked some summer jobs (Not sure if he was allowed to but I don't think back then they were that strict on checking papers) and when he made it back here with a green card, social security office had complete records of all his income. They never forget.
