Banking concerns

Greetings everyone!

So I signed up for Citibank awhile ago with my passport as the only ID. Now, Citibank recently sent me a mail and they are asking for me to fill out either the W9 or W8BEN. Which one should I fill out? It stated that they have the right to withold my account if they do not receive anything in 60 days.

You will need to fill out the W8BEN unless you have a SSN, then go ahead and send in a W9. (only takes a sec to fill out)

I just went in and added my social on file then the lady told me I didn't need to do anything they only send that because u dnt have a ss on file

Unless you have some kind of interest on your accounts I'd just ignore it - the worst they can do is withhold 23% of that interest. I got one like that when I first opened my account, still have it.
