So I guess depending where you live you can buy health insurance through either a federal or state exchange. Where I live, the state is going to be in charge of the exchange system and in the eligibility section it states:

WHO'S COVERED

Nevada Health Link is here to help anyone looking for health insurance, whether they already have insurance or not. If you already have insurance, through your employer, for example, you aren’t required to enroll through Nevada Health Link but are welcome to if you’d like. No one will be turned away for pre-existing conditions, such as diabetes or cancer. The only requirement to apply for and purchase insurance through Nevada Health Link is that you are lawfully present in the United States and are living in the State of Nevada.

Since it says "lawfully present" does that mean someone with DACA can apply for insurance through the state market place?

No. DACA recipients cannot participate in any state or federally subsidized exchange.

Although it may be a state-exchange, it is federally subsidized. Therefore, the rulings of national law are still applicable to the individual states.

Yup, What Circa says. We are not eligible for anything even if we are lawfully present. Our SSN is marked for work only. I know because I was going through a health clinic today and they asked me all of those questions. Basically all they had was yes or no questions such as

a) Are you a citizen
b)are you a resident
What is your number?
There was no daca option so I wrote it on the side. In the system she marked that my SSN was for work only.

This may blow my cover a little with the people I meet. Right now, if I meet someone new and the subject of insurance comes up (usually when saying "I didn't get this procedure because it was too expensive), I can say I don't have insurance and while some people look down on it, a lot of people don't have it. Now if you say you don't have insurance people will think you're either completely lazy, stupid, or an illegal.

Clearly they were confused at the health clinic because the SSN is not 'for work only'. It is 'valid for work only with DHS authorization'. I don't know why this confuses people, but this means it can be used for work only with DHS authorization. This is a valid SSN for the rest of your life even if you never renewed your DACA.

No she meant that in the system she had to mark it as "for work only" so that it didn't go up for the health exchange. Because right now they are trying to enroll as many people as possible so I guess the way they take us out is by marking it in the system as "for work only."

For the rest of the people they fill up their data and then it goes up to some system I guess that screens them for the different exchange programs they are eligible for.

You are way too self-conscious, most Americans don't even give a shit what your status is tbh and even more don't even know people can be undocumented.. Seriously I feel like you're paranoid thinking everyone's staring at you like look at that illegal!

Yup, I had to explain this to this dumb bitch I encountered when I was applying for something (can't remember what it was) but she was like ohh your social is only valid for work. I was mind blown that I even had to argue with her on the matter.

I haven't survived for 27 years here by outing myself to everybody. I'm not some 18 year old out of High School who already has DACA and nothing to lose. All it takes is for one customer, rival company, etc. to figure out that I'm not on the level and not only is my own life ruined, but anybody else who has helped me. With girls, all it takes is for psycho girl to try to get revenge after a breakup or rejection. Just one. If a citizen calls the feds, they have to check in on it. It's not paranoid.

It is. No one cares.. I know people who have been here for 25+ years and are literally out to anyone and everyone and nothing has ever happened. Unless you are robbing people blind, I don't think anyone would go out of their way to screw you over. You're paranoid, in the future when you become a USC (hopefully one day) and you're in a USC shoes you'll look back at this and probably be like yea I was paranoid.. No one gives a shit, it's all made up in your head
