The US Congress has shown an almost innate ability by not being able to pass controversial legislation, and this has now passed on to things that are now non-controversial such as the budget. The ingrained 2 party system within the structure of Congress has poisoned any ability for debate or reasoning I think.

I suspect we might actually head for default.

Plus immigrants were not pressuring as hard as now. I thinkCIR will pass once the GOP realizes they cant win a national election without the latino vote. They hope the last election for president was a fluke or momentum by Obama not democrats in general. Atleast GOP representatives in purple states want CIR like Joe Heck here in Nevada. Heck changed his mind because he knows latinos will toss him out otherwise. Unfortunately it may take several elections and a better functioning congress to get anything done . And since wecant wait the Dream act should be priority because it is the only piece that can pass if pressured enough and because even a lot of serious conservatives are fine with it
Blocking stuff is one thing, but passing them is another.

I think Obama should just get some Indian nation and just rule using treaties because the house will never do anything, or just fuck it all and declare martial law, yep guys we're 3 days away from US defaulting.

I can also see the democrats doing exactly the same thing to republicans once they retake the house. Republicans have set in place a very dangerous precedent.

They're making bad moves all over. It helps them now, but if the house turns blue, they'll realize what they did.
