The other problem I have is that my licence has my one last name (which is the only name I use) but my passport and EAD have my two last names (as is the norm within hispanic culture.) If I only use one last name on my ticket then bringing my EAD (with two last names) might just complicate things more, right?

Right. It should not be a problem even if you use passport or EAD, but it might slow you down if a novice TSA agent has to ask a supervisor just to be sure. When the name on your boarding pass matches perfectly with the one on your DL, it will take about five seconds for the agent to let you through.

Why so jumpy?! GET IT!? hahaha...

stop being lame, go have fun. The worse thing that can happen is the TSA gonna strip you down because you look like a terrorist.

Its a domestic flight dude, i wouldn't even take my EAD. Unless you have a thick ass accent, then worry lots.

another thing i picked up from reading your posts is that... you're trying to hide who you are, which isn't cool brah. Don't put the nopal away (you can't) Embrace who you are, don't be ashamed.

If you think your name is good enough then good luck with that. There are hundreds of Miguel Gutierrezes, Ajit Patels, Huang Nguyens, and Wu Chens in his system, some of whom are on a wanted list.

Is the paper good enough? Maybe...but anybody can copy that letter. The EAD card has a ton of hidden security marks. Do you really want to sit here and argue whether it makes sense to carry a .05 oz card with you? Your only argument so far is what if it gets lost...the counter argument is "what if you don't have it with you and you go to jail for a couple of days while it gets sorted out?" I like my side better.

Do you drive with your driver's license or do you leave that at home too? It's the same theory. You may never get pulled over. I know this dude who left his DL at home one day and nothing bad happened! I also know a dude who lost his DL. Is the conclusion that you're paranoid if you have your DL with you while you drive?
You won't see a second of jail this is what'll happen if they see your photocopy of EAD and don't believe you. They'll pull you in their office run your name and it'll show up and you'll be let out. How do I know this? Because they always do this when they check, matter if fact even with EAD in hand they still pull you in to make sure. Same thing if you're from Canada and show a Canadian passport at a check point they bring you to their little station and make sure it's legit/ run it. I really think you're paranoia and ignorance on the topic is getting the best of you, you have no experience on the subject and you're paranoid.

I don't blame him. It's one thing to be non-white, it's another to be a foreigner.

yeah but this isn't the 1960's anymore dude, i mean yeah there will always be racism but don't be thinking that you're going to be stopped just because you look of "Hispanic decent". If you're worried about that then you have a whole other issue that's wrong with both of you. If you know how to speak well (which all dreams should, because we were brough here at 16 trough no fault of our own) then what problem could arise? NONE.

stop being afraid of who you are. You can't change that.. unless you go to thailand, but for us dreamers that's not an option huehuehuehuehueh

I'm really glad that you were able to go with confidence! Your story will help other people who are undecided or unsure about whether to go through with it. You alleviated pressure off their minds.

Thanks for sharing!
