So the vote was 46-53 today to envoke cloture today. Sadly, does this mean that no law will be passed this year? Is this really the end for the law we have all been hoping for? I've been trying to be really optimistic these past few days, but is there any other way that this law will get passed?
I have also been optimistic thinking that the senators wouldn't succumb to the pressures of many southern racists, but like last time, reality has slapped me and 12 million other people in the face. In regard to your question, Im sorry to say that the bill is probably dead until the next presidential election or even until a new congress is elected in 2009. Our only hope now is if we help to push the passage of the DREAM act by itself. This means that everyone in this forum needs to do their part and call senator Reid and speaker of the house Pelosi, to bring the bills up for debate.
