The letter comes from USCIS they are self funded aren't they? I don't think that is the hold up. I believe any service request can take up to 60 if not 90 days.

i did not made any service request but what i did called them on the phone to NSC. The agent than transfered to high level guy so he send a message to Nebraska about my case. My case doesnt show any status online since february but it is showing on their side as active case. All i want to know why my case is not showing online for the last 8 months and how long will it going to be taken to ger APPROVED or Denied? He told me on the phone that i should be receiving something in the mail by Oct 18th this month so as of now still waiting..............also USCIS is not related with GOV shutdown so they are working as usual. Thier website also noted since OCT 1st but now taken out after reopen gov.

all right.

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) is primarily funded by user fees rather than government funding. It is, therefore, expected that most of its offices will continue to operate, albeit with a diminished staff during a shutdown. However, significant processing delays are likely to occur because USCIS relies upon other government agencies to perform its services (see below for how these agencies are likely to be affected). At this time, it is unknown whether the E-Verify program will be treated as an essential service and continue operating in the event of a shutdown.

so it trickles down, always trickles down. They might have been open but they still got the backlog because they couldn't perform background checks etc.
