Hi there to all. I have been visiting this website for months now (Mostly to see how the now failed C.I.R. bill was doing). I am going to make my background story as consice as I can.
Like most of you I was brought to the US illegally as a child. I was nine years old when my mom decided to bring my sister and me to the US without inspection from Mexico.
I am now 25 (almost sad to say) and live with the struggle of not having a valid SSN.
While my all my family has legal status- my sister who thankfully has her green card, and two us born brothers, I am the only one lacking legal status. That is becuase my mom failed to put all the paper work that would make me qualify under a minor (under 21) in time. To be more preicise because my mom was not a citizen at the time the paper work got through I was not able to qualify under what was called Child protected Status. That in turn led me to be considered as an adult and have to wait for a visa number to come up. Sad to say that I have been waiting for almost five years now, in a country that I have lived most of my live without being able to legally work or drive. However, the thing that really gets to me is that (as some of you may know) is that if your from Mexico the waiting time is extremely long. To say the leas, the visa bulletin has not move at all, not in all of 5 years!! It has been stuck more or less in June 1991, while my date is March of 2001.
Any ways, I just wanted to get this off my chest. I know 'eventually' my visa number will come up and have something to look forward to. Just let's keep our heads up high no matter what struggles everyone of us has gone through and unfortunately will go through becuase of our status. Thank you and please feel free to respond to anything of what I've said.
