Books can be pricey but sometimes you can find the international version of the book online that's is way cheaper than the real book. I would have to warn you that the risk with buying the international version is that they are sometimes slightly distinct than the original but sometimes they are exact. Also their is a con to buying the original book; sometimes you don't even used the book in class. I am saying this from experience. I would suggest you wait until you start class to determine if you are really going to need the book, if you do buy them online.

They might have you fill the CA Dream Act. That's what I did and the school gave me the grant.

I'm so glad i saw your post. I'm wondering if there are any age disqualifications to receive the univerity grants. I will be disqualified for the cal grants due to age in 2014, but I'm still going to fill out the application so the school can see my income and why it was declined. I will be transferrig next year to Fullerton State

all i did was fill out the dream act application. once cal state la got my info they decided how much they could give me. i went to the school -after i had received my award letter telling me how much money i was getting- because i wanted to know how much money i still need to pay.

when you fill out the CA dream act application it will ask you what schools you want to send your info to, once the schools receive your info they decided how much aid to give you.

If you're going for graduate school you should either write a proposal and get funded which is very hard for non-citizens. Most of the funding or grants are for citizens. The other way, is having a professor fund you.

Edit: This is if you are planning on doing research.

I have seen some of this grants and yes if you have a permanent residence you to qualify. Most of them are for citizens but there are a few for PR. Just need to search and apply. It requires commitment and hard work which I know you can do.

Edit: The best thing to do is to talk to the graduate school services at your university. They will help you and guide you through the applications. Good luck.
