Are there any student visas that DACA beneficiaries can apply for? My daughter is going to start college next spring and the main roadblock is that she does not meet residency requirements -we live in TN btw, therefore we will be dealing with higher tuition. We were told that a visa will satisfy the residency requirement - I would appreciate your input. Sorry if this has been asked before

That is interesting your daughters approved DACA status is lawful presence and it should suffice for educational purposes.

Having a student visa will even hike up the tuition fee to international students rate; essentially that is more expensive than out-of-state students.

Unless the college is a private college then everyone is paying the same rates.

If your daughter has DACA, she can just enroll as local resident student.

I thought the same thing all along. Unfortunately TN is one state that does not recognize DACA as valid for the residency requirement for in-state tuition, we met the representative at the school and they specifically told us we have to have a Visa, PR or of course citizenship.

Your daughter can't get any visa because she has to go out of the country to get one, and doing so triggers the 10-year bar of entry. Even if you have the money to satisfy the F-1 (student) visa, you will still pay out-of-state tuition rate (because an international student is most definitely from out-of-state) and be mandated to buy health insurance from the school.

There is no way for your daughter to obtain a student visa. I recommend that she go to a community college for the first 2 year and wait to see if DA passes within next 2 years.

hmmmm not sure if I can understand right. What some people here were encountering was that some states, were not counting the years people before DACA had and thus needed to have some time of residency there establish. I think TN was one of these states

Same problem with Florida. And it's not only the short timing for some. Florida had has had bills they were trying to pass for DACA students to pay in-state tuition, but they were all rejected and dropped.
