I just wanted to notify everyone in Tenessee that I will be receiving instate tuition at a public community college. I decided to message the admission specialist and ask about the tuition policy for DACA accepted individuals, and I delighted to hear what she told me. Apparently in order for me to recieve instate tuition I need to have a drivers license, and an employer stating that I work full-time. I encourage anyone just to ask what the tuition policy is affecting DACA recipients, because it might save you a lot of money.

Thanks for sharing the information, my daughter is going to go to a community college in Kmoxville, the admission contact said my daughter is not elegible for instate since DACA is not sufficient to establish the residency requirement, what community college are you going to attend if I may ask.

I'm going to Walters State Community College, it's about thirty to forty-five minutes away from Knoxville. I don't understand why two community colleges in the same state would have different policies. The admission specialist seemed to be very informed about DACA.

Why would working full time be a factor?

I'm not sure, she didn't go into much detail about that. I can only take a maximum of eleven credit hours. The reason I decided to go and speak to her is because I suspected of another student in my class was receiving instate tuition.

No, but I might do so. I'll probably email various colleges around the area to see what their stance on DACA are. Isn't there other states where colleges offer instate tuition to individuals with DACA, while the state has a neutral position? I've heard of stories of Floridan colleges offering instate tuition to DACA recipients. Also, a person from Idaho receiving instate tuition. Therefore, I encourage everyone to ask because different institutions in these neutral states might offer instate tuition.
