Would a state ID and Advance Parole document be enough? Is a passport absolutely necessary?

Yes passport is absolutely necessary. Without a passport you are not boarding an international flight.

I don't plan on flying, I plan on driving or walking from Juarez, Mexico to El Paso, TX. This is very common down here with a Border Crossing Card but I don't know what is needed with Advanced Parole/DACA.

no, they are not. and to have one you pretty much need to live in Mexico which contradicts DACA. You think your birth certificate, US ID, and Advance Parole Document is good enough?

actually you're wrong. You can live here and get a Mexican matricula and used that for DACA.

Ok, I was thinking of a "Matricula Profesional" which states if you're a lawyer, engineer or whatever... Never heard of the ones you mentined so I googled them and it sounds like they would be helpful.

Here's a question: why are you so unwilling to just get a passport? If you want to get a matricula one way or another you will have to go through the consulate.
