Fast forward to now, thanks to DACA, I'm working my dream job in a leading biotech company.

The bottom line is, if I could do it, I'm very sure that you could also do it. It'll be a very rewarding journey.
wow congrats!

Wait, no it wasn't. FIU has rolling admissions. They accept applications all year long. I think you meant their PRIORITY deadline, which is for international students (like the real ones), needing a spot in the university ASAP.

Wow, congrats to all of you guys, those are all quite the achievements.

Naxield: Oh, I just figured that I was considered an international. Good to know, thanks.

That's a good idea, I'll start my UCs app tonight. I already finished my Common App personal statement, I think it came out very strong. PM if you'd like to read it sometime, its only 650 words.

Wow thank you, I will definitely look into that. I've been trying to find something like that, I know there's a couple more. It's great to hear all these experiences of people who have succeeded at such a disadvantage.

Definitely PM it to me if it's not too late! Sorry, I hadn't logged on since posting my last post above.

FIU is rolling admissions as someone else mentioned. The November 1st deadline is for those who are interested in the merit scholarships the school itself offers (which I'm assuming is you). However, with your test scores, I feel like they'd be more than happy to help you out financially regardless.

I was considering applying to UM like you are as well, but in the future (if it so allows) I want to enroll in medical school and UM has a strict policy against letting anyone who isn't a citizen/PR into it. I feel like I'd have a somewhat better chance at getting into their's if there are any foreseeable changes in immigration policy.

I also automatically took out the option of the state ones like UF and FSU even though I know they'd be better fits for me personally. So I know exactly how it feels to have your options limited by things like money and status when on a logistic level, they should be based on intelligence alone.

I've spent a lot of time looking into merit scholarships that we'd be able to apply to, so let me know if you'd like to go through the links. I wish you the best of luck!

Are you applying this year? I'd be happy to share the handful of scholarships I've found and look over your apps if you'd like. I'm applying to UF and FSU but that's just a last resort hopefully some miracle happens kind of thing..I'll likely be at UM next year. Just because they're like that for med doesn't mean you couldn't get a solid undergrad there, but their aid is'nt very good

Update Here: http://dreamact.info/forum/showthrea...843#post529843

To anyone wondering, it is virtually impossible to attend the University of Miami as a needy international student. Even with the highest scholarships, you are still looking at about 13k in costs annually with no loan or payment system in place. Kinda dissapointing to see that in the top school in the city which contains so many dreamers.
