Speaker John Boehner told colleagues Wednesday morning Republicans are working on a list of “principles” for immigration reform.
The Ohio Republican, speaking in a closed meeting, said that the outline will be distributed to members of the House GOP Conference in the near future. The party’s legislative retreat, where the agenda is usually set, is later this month in Cambridge, Md. Boehner’s comments were described by several sources in the room. Boehner reiterated to his Republican colleagues that he was not willing to enter into negotiations using the Senate’s immigration overhaul bill, but added that the issue is a political football that’s not going away.

Good sign from boehner. I just hope the house can pass something that democrats will accept. Democrats might try to block any republican bill, by saying "oh there is no path for undocumented to become citizens. " it's time for pOlitics to stop on both sides. The 11 million people need some kind of relieve. Leave citizenship at least for non dreamers and pass something !

I see in an article Paul Ryan says we are aiming for a "tentative vote in October". Give me a fucking break!! Ain't NOTHING gonna happen this year. I give this to you in writing on a gold sheet of paper. This is an election year. Something of this magnitude and scale is untouchable in the U.S. Congress in an election year. Our goal this year should be to get as many Democrats elected to the House of Reps and aim for 2015 summer passage. I can give Boehner a blueprint of my ass..traitor!

1986 was in fact an election year. The 1986 immigration bill passed on the very beginning of the lame duck session (November 6th, election was held November 4th).

I am cautiously optimistic that Boehner might pass something after the republican primaries - remember the biggest threat to most Republicans are not Democrats but other Republicans trying to primary them out. Lame duck session is really the safest point to do it - elections are already done, those who lost are still in and can do what they please, those who won - no one will remember how they voted two years from then.

They're gonna pass a border security bill and then say that they fixed the immigration system.
Give me a break.

That is quite astonishing isn't it. I and most people on here as well were not even alive at that time but in the current era..the chances just seem to be slim to none of anything important being resolved in an election year. I'm hoping that it will happen as well but I would be cautious and not get too excited about it. If not, I just hope they expand DACA to include some older dreamers or even the parents of DACA beneficiaries. It would be a major fail if NOTHING is done.
