Congrats!
However, work experience is WAY more useful than your GPA.
I studied Chemical Engineering and graduated with a 3.7 GPA, which is decent but didn't help so much. I landed a job because somebody was looking out for me. I'm working as an engineer as well and after working for a while, I realized that your GPA or where you got your degree from does not matter. I know quite a few that were terrible students but are now capable engineers. Experience and your job performance are what will get you further.
Anyway, congrats again.

Thank you very much. I also had extensive work experience working with my father as an electrician. It relates to the company (one of the branches) I received the job offer from.

Changing subjects, I have a question about affirmative action. How much does this come into play for big companies like Google, HP, GE, Apple, Intel where engineers or STEM degree people are hired?

I'm just wondering on the interview when they ask if you need sponsorship, should we just say "no" period. Or should we say No and say I'm on DACA.

Bullshit

Question:

Can I ask my employer to sponsor me for something? I'm doing an internship on a major IT company.

Unfortunately... no. For someone to sponsor you, you have to be eligible for a status change. If you applied for DACA when you were over 18, you are 100% ineligible for an employer-based status change - your only option is to have an immediate relative sponsor you (child or spouse, or parent if you are under 21).

Also, congrats to everyone who's gotten jobs in this thread! I've bee at my mechanical engineering job for nearly a year now and am starting to look around for something bigger and better.

Congrats!

I know I just started college, but if I do end up in Accounting or Finance major, worried about holding a high GPA, as I heard if it drops below 3.5 then the degree would be worthless, as GPA matters more than anything for those type of degrees?

BTW, for you engineers...

How the heck did you stomach the math?

Do you guys have any first hand testimonials? Right now I am doing College Algebra and its manageable, but I do have to concentrate and really think sometimes to memorize equations and formulas etc...and this is just Algebra? I don't mean to sound like an idiot, but if I was to say try out engineering...would it be a bad idea if math intimidates me?

I can always say "All I have to do is apply myself", and that may be true, but I only have one shot at a degree and right now I am in overdrive evaluating which degree path to be on. I have about 1-2 more semesters before I have to start choosing advanced classes for a specific degree.

Connections, friends in high places, and networking

Work experience in the relevant field above the GPA.

GPA above being an officer in a club.

.... and the least useful thing is being a member in a club or of an honor society (unless you had fun, of course).
