About to exit the lot and suddenly this poverty subaru reversed out of nowhere and hit the side of my car.

Old white trash guy started yelling saying it was my fault, started cussing bla bla and refused to show documentation. I ordered him to sit down.

Called 911 and the cops came and settled the issue.

I called my insurance to file a claim. Insurance claims agent will contact me Monday.

Do you think my premium will go up after this?

oh and here are pics of the accident:

As this was in private property, I doubt the cop did anything other than to tell you guys to handle it with your insurance companies, but it's good you called them so the guy wouldn't get violent. You might also want to keep the non-emergency number for the police in your phone too...sometimes they get annoyed if you call 911.

Did you get that guy's insurance info? It would be better to just file a claim with that guy's insurance since it's obviously his fault as he is the one who hit you. He can be mad all he wants but you didn't hit the back of his car with the side of your car!

Talk to your claim guy and see what he says about your particular coverage. Generally, if you have full coverage and it's NOT your fault, your insurance will start the work and then try to get your deductible back from the other guy and it won't hurt your rate. HOWEVER, if you start the work with your insurance, and the other guy turns out not to have insurance (or it was a hit and run), then you'll have to pay your deductible AND it will go on your record as a paid claim which might raise your rate. That's why it's nice to have uninsured motorist protection too.

For now, relax. It looks like less than a $1000 damage. If the guy wasn't an asshole, you might ask him to pay you cash for the repair, but since he was in a yelling mood, I would go through his insurance. You'll get a nice rental for a couple of weeks and act like a hotshot and then your own car gets a nice free detailing.

How could he say it's your fault when he was backing up? He should of just said "sorry i didn't see u," cuz u have no obligation to stop for anyone backing out of a parking space. He's lucky he didn't flare up on the wrong person, cuz i know many people who would of whipped his ass for showing out like that. Good for u for keeping your composure...i wish i would be able to react the same in that situation. Lol

lol it's called being old And unfortunately I've had a few fender benders myself - thankfully except for a couple, they were at a time when I had a valid DL so besides lost money, I gained some experience.

One lesson was to avoid calling the cops unless it's a major accident. This undocumented guy side swiped me once and he got out of the car yelling at me so I decided to call the cops (thinking he could get his insurance info since he wasn't giving me anything). An hour later the cop shows up all pissed at us for still being in the street (the other guy refused to move) so we both got tickets - he for not having license and insurance and me for failure to stay in my lane (which was BS) and a big dent.
