Hi, I wanted to ask if anyone here is from New Mexico.

I have a older sibling with mental illness who also like me, overstayed her tourist visa. We both live in AZ (she lives with us as family) and I was lucky to apply and received my EAD so I went to Cali to get DL, however, she didnt' meet requirement and couldn't apply. And neither can she apply a photo ID here in AZ. I know (as I had heard from a confirmed source) that New Mexico would still issue ID/DL without SSN or legal presence and would love to get in out with any dreamer who lives there. I am tryin to see if I can help my sister apply some sort of medical assistance in AZ but they do require some form of ID (she only has passport without visa or I-97 and her birth certificate).

Thank you in advance for your help!!!----Linda

I live in NM. When i first moved here i got my id with my itin number. But it was not easy, you have to have bills under your name and they have to be from like three months or older prior to your mvd visit. Proof that you live in Nm, your birth certificate translated if its in spanish and also notarized. Its not easy if you do not live in Nm. You cant just show up and get one. I also think people with out ssn need to make an appointment that takes 3 months. I guess they did it like this because other people from other states just came for the id/dl.

Thank you so much for your reply!!!

I know the process might not be easy, but prior to me getting a California DL, I actually went through the whole process and got a NM driver license so I can understand the steps you are referring and do not mind that it will take 3 months or so to get it done. I was able to "use" a ex-coworker's family member's address and just mailed out my utilities bill there with my name. I never lived in NM but did prepared much and waited for the right time to go there to get that driver license. This ex-coworker moved to different states and we hardly stayed in touch and that's why I am looking for help here.

My biggest problem is to know someone who actually live in NM and would willing to help me help my sister who really needs help on this. I can at least speak English and make income on my own, and she can't do any of that by herself due to her condition. I'd really appreciate if you or any other dreamer who is willing to help. Thank you!!!----Linda
