Hey, Fiero87, please update here with your latest news. I live in Arizona myself and received my EAD last year and actually went to California to get my DL, which I did. However, I have not thought about switching to AZ DL because of the standard law. Yet now you mentioned the possible "loop hole", it might worth a shot. Would love to hear your result. Good luck!!!----Linda

You should go give it a shot. This is the form you have to fill out

http://www.azdot.gov/docs/default-so...2.pdf?sfvrsn=5

No where on there does it ask if your a citizen or anything like that. Just fill it out and go with your CA DL and just tell them you just moved to AZ and need a DL. It will either work and they will you your new AZ DL or if they have a way of finding out that you got it in CA through DACA they will say they can't give you one.

I will hopefully be going sometime in the beginning of march and when I get it soon after will try to switch it for AZ one.

You are right!!! It doesn't ask me for citizenship or anything else.

It does, however, ask for my SSN number, which I do have through getting my EAD.

Now my biggest question is that I remember reading somewhere on the Arizona Repulic saying that even with EAD, stupid governor Jane Brewer prohibit EAD receipants from receiving any state-related assistance/services including driver license. And we know that our special SSN via EAD is different than the usual SSN number. My worry would just be that in the MVD of AZ, they might have a way to detect that already (again, I could be completely wrong).

Do you think I can just mail it that paperwork by mail or do I need to stop by in person??

Honestly I don't know. But you should give it a shot. If they can track the SS# back to DACA then well if anything just say you didn't know that yoi couldnt get one here in AZ. The only thing I can see happening is them basically refusing to give it to you. But then you would just end up back where your at now. So not like you will be loosing anything, well besides your time for going.

Hello,

For all those who wish to go this route you should read this article. As you will see, AZ no longer accepts out of state IDs as a primary form of identification. They require all new applicants to provide proof of legal presence (US passport, Birth Certificate, etc.) and a secondary identification an ID/drivers license.

http://www.azdot.gov/mvd/driver-serv...ewtoAZ/welcome!
Go to "Proof of Identification, Age and Authorized Presence"
And boom realize that what you wanted to do isn't possible.
