Hello, everyone:

I know I need to probably go to a tax accounting or an attorney for this, but I thought I would ask around to do more research before going into that direction.

I applied and recceived my EAD last year, thus SSN number. The year or two before that, I applied a ITIN number and only filed tax once ( I know it's bad. All this time when I stayed in US , I was either making money mostly cash and didn't think twice about tax filing). I did tried merged my new SSN with my ITIN (I had a secured credit card as well as a car loan, they both were using my ITIN to open and as soon as I got my SSN, I reported to both the bank and the car loan company about the change). Anyways, this year I am planning to marry my US citizen boyfriend and am curious about tax filing. He makes a steady income so no need for sponsor.

I guess my question now is about fixing my tax and how to go about that with the paperwork for marriage. I know I am behind tax so I need to start filing for at least the 2 years that I used ITIN, and last year since I got my EAD (plus the SSN), I was working for my brother's small business (self employed). Now I wonder do I need to show proof of income (tax) for myself while filing marriage ? I mean, if my boyfriend is financial stable to sponsor me, I do not have to show my part, right?? Plus, I haven't file anything since I started working for my brother.

Sorry if this all seems very confusing. I greatly appreciate all inputs. Thank you.

Ok to answer your question:

No your income will not be needed as part of the I864. A tax accountant will not have the answer for this.
